Who Wrote That Rule?

What if I told you that you don’t have to work 80 to 100 hours per week to be successful? Wouldn’t you like to know another – better way?

During high school and early college, I would spend a few weekends and the occasional summer at the Texas Baseball Ranch to develop my skills as a Pitcher. Every morning before starting the day’s workouts and throwing programs, Coach Ron Wolforth would take all the players through what he called, “Mindset Hour.”

This 30-60-minute session would include a motivational video, a talk from Coach Wolforth or another coach at the Ranch, with intense notetaking by all of the students.

Out of all the Mindset Hours I participated in, there was one key phrase that stood out…

“Who wrote that rule?”

The basic premise behind the phrase stems from years and years of baseball historians, players, and coaches saying, “in order to be successful, you need to do this.”

However, not until recently have people around baseball begun to challenge the “status quo.”

If you think of it, the same thing applies in most other life-scenarios doesn’t it? In business, most have the idea that in order to be successful or make a lot of money, you need to sacrifice every ounce of time and energy you have.

As a result, you feel trapped inside this box of other people’s expectations.

This model has worked for many people.

But, just because something works for someone else does not mean it has to be true for you.

So, as you’re reading this, think about a scenario in your life where you are just simply following what everyone else says. Maybe it’s related to work? Sports? Mindset?

Ask yourself…

“Who wrote that rule?”

By taking a moment to take a step back and consider your current environment, you are able to accurately assess the best way to move forward.

I’m here to tell you there’s a better way. A way to become successful that doesn’t include sacrificing family time, leisure, and basic enjoyment of life. It’s very simple.
